Riding with Purpose

Midlands Riding Club is a not-for-profit organisation created to bring people together through riding, countryside access and charitable fundraising. We organise structured rides throughout the year, from gentle summer ambles to more spirited autumn and winter outings — all without hounds and always at a pace and distance suitable for the advertised ride type.

What Makes Us Different

-
No hounds – our rides follow a pre-planned, fixed route across permitted farmland and woodland.
-
Optional jumping – fences always avoidable.
-
Landowner-supported access – every route is made possible through local farmers and estate owners.
-
Everyone welcome – no previous experience necessary, just an ability to ride across country.
-
Run for charity – every ride contributes to good causes.
-
A true countryside community – members, volunteers, supporters and families all play a part.

Our Goal

To create enjoyable, safe and sociable riding experiences while raising much-needed funds for charities and keeping traditional countryside riding accessible for everyone.

Beginnings
Our Story
Founded by a group of passionate riders, Midlands Riding Club has grown into a community hub since its establishment. Our commitment to enjoyable rides has created lasting friendships and unforgettable experiences for riders from all walks of life.

Our Founders

Mick Mottershaw – A lifelong horseman and experienced Field Master with decades of countryside knowledge and a passion for supporting landowners and rural communities.

Stuart McCready-Stocks – Director, countryside enthusiast, and experienced rider who discovered equestrianism later in life. Passionate about team chasing, hunting traditions and preserving rural heritage.

Liza Mottershaw – Pony Club organiser, long-time rider, event supporter and champion of family-friendly countryside access.
Samantha Astley – NHS Nurse Practitioner, lifelong rider and Pony Club mum, dedicated to safe, supportive and confidence-building riding.

Together they built MRC to create a fun, inclusive, professionally run club where riders can enjoy the countryside while supporting charity.
